My home automation system has no support: what can I do?

It's more common than you'd think: the installer is gone, there's no documentation and something has stopped working. The good news is that it can almost always be fixed.

1. Audit

We review the distribution board, the equipment, the network and how everything actually works: what's installed, what works and what doesn't.

2. Recover the project

  • KNX: the project is built in ETS. If the previous installer still has it, ask for it. If not, it can be reconstructed.
  • Loxone: you need access to the Miniserver and configuration with administrator credentials.
  • Other systems: it depends on the manufacturer and whether it still offers support.

3. Replace what's obsolete

Old gateways, apps that no longer work or unsupported visualisation servers can be replaced while keeping the rest of the installation.

4. Document

Schematics, addresses, users and configuration backups, handed over to the owner.

5. Maintain

A maintenance contract stops you ending up without support again.

Frequently asked questions

Does the whole installation need replacing?

Rarely. It's usually enough to recover the configuration and replace a few components.
