How much does it cost to automate a home?

Be wary of fixed prices given without a site visit. These are the factors that really determine the cost of an installation.

1. New build, renovation or finished home

In a new build or full renovation, cabling goes in alongside the other services and the extra cost is more contained. In a finished home, wireless solutions avoid building work but have other limits.

2. The system

KNX, Loxone and wireless systems have different cost structures. A fair comparison is by functionality, not by device price.

3. What you want to automate

Controlling heating and blinds is very different from scene lighting throughout the house plus access, alarm, cameras and energy. We recommend prioritising in phases.

4. Interfaces

Design switches and touch panels can be a significant share of the budget in high-end homes.

5. The network

Good home automation needs a good network. If the WiFi or cabling isn't up to scratch, it needs to be included.

6. Maintenance

Consider the cost over the years, not just installation: updates, support and upgrades.

Our approach: a phased quote, with the essentials now and what you can add later without redoing anything.
