IP paging: announcements, background music and intercoms

How it works

Each IP speaker connects to the network with one cable and is powered over PoE. It registers with the phone system like an extension: dialling a number from a phone opens an announcement in that zone or group of zones.

Common uses

• Zone announcements: warehouse, dining room, kitchen, car park, whole building.
• Background music in shops, restaurants or common areas, paused automatically when an announcement starts.
• Door chime: the intercom or doorbell sounds through speakers in workshops or noisy areas.
• Two-way intercom at entrances, counters or help points.
• Scheduled messages: opening, closing or break times.

Advantages over traditional PA

• It uses the data network: no dedicated audio cabling.
• Expand by adding speakers wherever there's a network point.
• Integration with the phone system, intercom and alarms.

Bear in mind

Voice evacuation systems in buildings may have specific requirements; for that purpose, the system must be designed to the applicable regulations. For operational announcements and background music, IP paging is a simple, flexible solution.
